Do you want do make an impact with your research?

This course is designed for researchers and students in disciplines related to peace, social justice, and social change, who want to amplify the community impact of their research through digital technology.

In this course, you will design a conscious and sustainable digital strategy for your research project. Through 5 hands-on sessions, you will go through practical aspects of designing a digital strategy for social impact, such as finding your target audience, defining your compelling message and communication style, making choices about your digital content, outputs, and digital technologies. While covering specific technical aspects, we will also discuss the role of social change research, its relationship with power structures and community action.

Join this conversation on what we can do, as researchers, to actively engage in making change happen. This is a chance to include peace and resistance in your research design!

Why this course?

One of the reasons why I chose to study peace and conflict studies, was because I wanted to contribute to peace and social change. My research brought me to conduct fieldwork in a post-conflict environment and to discover the power of people’s action. But how exactly can research support this action or change?

I realised that publishing papers in academic journals was not enough, and it takes an active effort to connect with communities and make an impact. Through this course, you will design a strategy that you can integrate in your past, current, or future research project. If you have no idea of how you want to implement the ‘action’ side of your research, you are still in the right place!

We are going to learn how to use digital strategies to achieve your goals. Digital tools could be central to your strategy, but do not need to be. They could be a just way to amplify your outreach, building relationships, or other specific goals. Either way, by working on your digital strategy, not only you will acquire new tech skills – and I promise it won’t be overwhelming! – you will be learning about how to connect with your audience and see your research and outputs through their eyes.

The course is suitable for all levels of studies/ research career, and all levels of digital skills. Beginners are welcome!
