Get your writing ready for international publishing in Peace and Conflict Studies
Are you a student or early career research in Peace and Conflict Studies? Are you working, or planning to start working on an essay, chapter, thesis, or publication?
Then this might be for you! Through this programme, you will part of a small group, and at each session we will focus on improving an aspect of your writing. You will be working on your essay and you will be able to receive feedback on your work, as well as practice reviewing papers for your peers.Â
This programme is designed to boost not only your skills but also your confidence, and if you need to, getting ready for publishing in international journals. There will be opportunities to receive targeted support, and exchange ideas about topics of your interest.
Dr Monica Carrer is a researcher in Peace and Conflict Studies and creator of the Everyday Peace Community
Writing is a core skill for a research career, not only because it is a key to getting published, but also because the ability to express our arguments in a clear and compelling way is needed to make an impact for peace and change, no matter the path we choose.Â
Having studied in different countries around the world (Italy, Switzerland, UK, and Aotearoa New Zealand), I have experienced different styles of teaching and learning, and I know that not everyone gets the opportunity to receive guidance on how to take their writing to the next level. Also, I have experienced what it is like to write in English as an academic when English is not your mother tongue.Â
The idea for this programme has come from my experience working with international researcher as a mentor and reviewing paper, and observing common trends in writing, but also the importance of developing confidence and exchanging ideas. Therefore, the idea is to bring together a small group of students/ researchers, so that we can examine different aspects of our writing together and to have the opportunity to give and receive feedback in a supportive environment.Â
I am especially passionate about applying storytelling to our academic writing, and making sure that what we write is engaging not just for our field, but for the broader audience.
The course is suitable for postgraduate students and early career researchers in Peace and Conflict Studies or related fields.Â
