Free Palestine Townsville started from a group of friends, who were concerned about the silence in our town, while this horrific genocide has been unfolding in Gaza. Townsville is a small city in North Queensland, a garrison town. There were no big actions unlike in other cities. We started by holding events to raise awareness about what was happening, and grew into a movement. We now organise regular actions and events of different kind.

As a decolonial movement, acknowledging the colonial nature of this land, Gurrambilburra, beloging to the Wulgurukaba and Bindal people, is of primary importance for us. We pay respect to the Elders past, present and future. We acknowledge that soverigneity was never ceded, and seek to actively develop solidarity and connection with local Bindal and Wulgurukaba communities.
